Nicolas Ferrera (b. 2008) is a multidisciplinary figurative artist specializing in portraiture, figurative work, and imaginative illustration. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Nicolas is an alumnus of LaGuardia High School and currently studies at Grand Central Atelier, where he practices classical artistic technique.
His work is influenced by his fascination with human figures and how they embody individuality. With careful observation, he honors the unique forms, expressions, and pallets that contribute to someone's unrepeatable self. He is drawn equally to elegance and imperfection, the stretch of flesh, the twitch of a jowl, finding beauty in the physical qualities that are often overlooked.
Although grounded in five years of classical training, Nicolas does not limit himself to traditional methods. He combines mediums and materials to explore the atmosphere of his imagination. Color becomes a vocabulary for emotion, guided by the energy of the person before him or the image that lives in his head.
